Beach Cleaning Machine Kills Sunbather |

A woman was killed by a beach cleaning machine yesterday as she slept on the Postiguet beach in Alicante.
In two conflicting stories Alicante town council said the woman was lying down on the sand with a beach mat covering her. The husband said that she was sitting up and that the driver of the machine was looking behind him at the trail the machine made.
When the husband tried to shout at him the driver did not hear him and proceeded to roll over the woman who was then immobilized and then killed by the trailer the tractor was towing.
The 54 year old woman was at the beach at 7:30 in the morning with her husband and her sister for an early morning dip. The sister was already in the water. The family come from Alicante and the local neighbourhood were stunned by the news.
As part of the investigation it has been put forward that the operative even if he was looking forward may have been blinded by the sun and did not see the woman. The crucial questions are why the woman did not get out of the way if she was sat up or even lying down and secondly why the operative did not see her or hear the cries from the husband. Furthermore is he went over her with the tractor why did he not stop quickly enough for the trailer to not kill her?
