The Markets on the Costa Blanca |
Outdoor markets are held in most towns and villages up and down the Costa Blanca. They are a great place if you are looking for quality at a good price. They are also great if you just fancy a stroll among the hustle and bustle of a traditional market.
Markets are usually held in the morning up until lunch time. There are some exceptions to this and these are noted in the list below.
There are three main types of markets. The most popular are the general markets selling fruit, vegetables and flowers. Rastros are flea-markets selling trinkets and antiques. In a few towns, there are summer art markets, which are normally held daily. Rastros and art markets will be noted separately in the list below, otherwise the market days are for fruit, vegetables and flowers.
If you plan to go to a market, go early to ensure a good range of produce, and to get a good parking place! It is important to be aware of parking on a market street the night before. If you leave your car beyond the designated time (there will be signs, but not always clear), you car may be towed away by the police. It will cost you €100 or so to get it back from the pound!
