A Scots dad of a man killed in a horrific car crash in Spain has been told his unborn grandchild has survived.
John Cameron is still grieving the loss of son Christian, 31, in the pile-up near Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca.
Two other Brits died in the accident on July 7. There is some evidence to suggest that alcohol was to blamefor the accident as the driver of another car involved has been questioned by Guardia Civil after a blood test in the hospital he was being treated in. But John has been told that Christian's unborn child has amazingly pulled through. His son's five-month pregnant girlfriend, Joan McGuinness, 29, is also recovering from her life-threatening injuries. John, who lived with the couple in Torrevieja, said: 'The experts have carried out tests on the baby's heart and said that it's beating as strong as an ox.We'll find out in about 10 days if it's a boy or a girl. 'If it's born a boy, Joan is going to call him Christian in honour of my son. 'If it's a girl, she's going to call her Milagro, which is Spanish for miracle.' The 58-year-old, originally from Johnstone, Renfrewshire, added: 'The death of my son is a tremendous loss. 'But the fact my grandchild has survived makes it easier to bear.' Property sales manager Christian died when a coach carrying nearly 50 school children smashed into his Ford Focus and dragged it down a 21ft bank. |
