Terra Mitica Moves Into Black 23 October 2006
After years of mis-management, the Terra Mitica theme park has finally enjoyed its first profitable start to the season.
The theme park, located near Benidorm, was supposed to the be the Disneyworld of Spain. Instead it has been poorly managed, and investigations are on-going into allegations of fraud, bribery and general financial mis-management.
However, a new team of managers have set about reversing the trend, and they have had some success.
Firstly, they managed to secure agreement to sell of some land, even though it was the subject of a fraud investigation. This enabled Terra Mitica to reduce ot debts considerably. And with a new programme which includes many “special events” in the park, Terra Mitica has seen a 15% increase in visitors compared to last year.
These special events include private parties such as children’s birthday, and even wedding receptions. As well, a number of corporate events have been held in the park. Often these events are outside normal opening times. However, the 2 most profitable rides, Magnus Collossus and Synkope are kept open during special events.
Terra Mitica has also embarked on an aggressive advertising and promotion campaign this year in order to boost numbers.
