More Homes Built Illegally 27 October 2006
The Green Party have requested that building stops on new homes in Torrevieja.
The issue of illegally built homes appears to be gaining momentum. Thousands of homes in Murcia are under the spotlight facing allegations of being built illegally. Many homeowners face a stressful and uncertain future as demolition orders are approved by councils. Even the Guardia Civil are involved having been order to check planning registers and report all illegal builds.
Now, in Torrevieja, the Green Party have identified a further 268 which they say are being built illegally. They claim that planning permission for the Alto de la Castilla urbanisation has not been granted at that therefore the build is illegal. They go on to claim that the relevant debate in the council has not even taken place, believing it to form part of today's council agenda.
So strong is their condemnation of events that they are demanding that Esteban Gonzalez Pons should relieve Torrevieja town hall of its planning responsibilities. Of course, part of this demand represents political posturing, but there is a serious side to this as central government gets tough on illegal buildings. |
