Denia Gypsy Row Continues
2 November 2006

The row over the Partido Popular's call for gypsies to be evicted from Denia has caused a strong reacton.

Partido PopularWe reported that the PP councillors have called for all gypsies to be eviced from Denia, citing crime rise as the reason. All this against a background of official statistics showing falling crime.

Further calls for the eviction of squatters in the town show that the PP is determined to be tough on this issue.

Now, the Regional Federation of Gypsy Associations has decided to take legal action against the particular PP councillor. This has led to a statement being issued from the PP itself who have gone on to say that the gypsies are welcome, and that in no way are they connected with crime.

They are clearly trying to alienate the main party from the comments of one of their ranks
