Neighbourhood Watch Extends to Torrevieja 10 November 2006
The successful neighbourhood watch scheme from the UK is being extended to Spain.
On Saturday, a meeting wil be held in Torrevieja where Terry McCormick, a serving UK police officer has been invited to address the forum. The invitation came from James Herbert who is working to expand he scheme in Spain under the guise of 'proteccion civil'.
It is hoped that the UK scheme will be expanded to not only residents, but also local businesses, boat owners, taxi drivers and refuse collectors.
The forum will take place at the Virgen de Carmen public building in Torrevieja where a static display of emergency vehicles can be seen. On display will be police cars, fire tenders and ambulances. |
