Iberdrola Apologise for Power Cuts 13 November 2006
The chairman of the electricity company Iberdrola has apologised for recent power cuts.
During the heavy rains, it seemed that many homes, hotels and businesses suffered power cuts. This led to a string of complaints against Iberdrola, the local energy provider.
However, the chief of Iberdrola in the Alicante region, Javier Bon, has made a public statement to say what actually happened.
All in all, only 1% of its customers were affected, and in most cases, the cuts were very short, often just cutting and coming straight back on again. Snr Bon defended his team saying that they responded extremely quickly to problems as they emerged, and only in the most severe cases, were people left without power for significant periods of time.
However, at the same time, Snr Bon recognised that even this was not acceptable and apologised for the inconveniences. At the same time, he said that further investment into the electricity infrastructure would be made to reduce further the risk of power cuts in the future. |
