Calpe Asks for Desaliation Plant 22 November 2006
As water woes deepen, Calpe has been forced to review its water supply arrangements.
Currently, water for the town is supplemented by water drawn from a well, known locally as Lucifer. However, with the sustained lack of rain, the town council is becoming concerned that this supply will not be sufficient.
They have identified another well, known locally as Maria, which they believe could provide additional water for the town. However, the water will require purification and because of this, the council have requested that a desalination plant be built.
So far, 3 massive desalination plants are being built ion the Costa Blanca, 2 in the south near Torrevieja, and 1 in the North near Denia. |
