It has been revealed that Johnny Depp will be filming his next movie in Alicante.
His next film, Shantaram, based on the novel by Gregory David Roberts will be shot in the Alicante film complex known as the City of Light. The movie is about a convict who, after 19 years in jail in Australia, ends up in India. There, he assumes the identity of a doctor. After a while, he resumes his criminal activities and becomes involved with the local criminal underground. His transformation to a true Indian sees him fighting their causes on an international level.The City of Light has only been open for a year, but has already attracted considerable investment. Gerrard Depardieu has been filming the latest episode of his Asterix movie recently, requiring many locals as extras.
It seems the good start is generating a lot of kudos for the film complex, so maybe we’ll see even more top name movie stars in our neck of the woods.
